Scaling the heights

Scaling the heights

Gordon
I’m standing on Mera Peak (6,476m), Hinku Valley, Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal. The highest mountain in the distance is Everest (8,850m) but you also see Nupse (7,855m) on the left and Lhotse (8,516m) on the right. It took 2 weeks walk in from Lukla (one of the most dangerous airport landings in the world!), this required to acclimatise. One week to walk out. High camp was 5,800m and the temperature was -38 until sun rise. We left High Camp at 2am, there were 5 of us roped together, Sherpa in front. This was an experience of a lifetime back in 2007 and it would not have been possible if you had not fixed my knee in 2001.
Thank you and best wishes
