Mackay Clinic’s annual sports surgery workshop

Glasgow University Anatomy Skills Lab has once again hosted the MacKay Clinic’s annual Sports Surgery Workshop, this year on Friday 6th June. Physios from across the country joined Professor Mackay to learn of the latest applications for the Internal Brace and to observe the technique applied to repair damaged ankle and knee ligaments.

Mr Bob Carter shared his expertise in Foot and Ankle surgery and the latest innovations in knotless achilles repair was also discussed. As always the highlight of the day was the opportunity for ‘hands on’ experience, a first for many.   Dr Quentin Fogg, Head of Anatomy at Glasgow, kindly hosted the workshop in the recently refurbished Anatomy Skills Lab and was was on hand to impart some of his vast anatomical knowledge.

Sadly due to serious illness Mr Gam Ayana was unable to join us – his unique personality and teaching skills had previously enhanced our upper limb teaching which was cancelled this year. Our thoughts are with Gam and his family.
