Judo success for former patients at the Games

Judo success for former patients at the Games

I do lots of work with the judo players at Ratho and never think to ask about their background. So I was surprised to find that two of the athletes I’ve helped put back together and who went on to win medals are, in fact, English. I obviously knew that Gemma Gibbons, (click here to find out more about Gemma’s successful shoulder stabilisation) who is married to Scottish judo legend Euan Burton and has a silver Olympic medal to her name, is English, but it was only when Colin Oates won a gold medal in the-66kg category that I realised he was representing England. Colin trains at Ratho, the home of Scottish judo near Edinburgh, where he did his rehab after I reconstructed his shoulder.
