This excellent meeting on innovations in knee surgery had about 250 surgical delegates and an excellent Faculty composed of some of the top Austrian, Swiss and German surgeons.
Velden was the perfect location and is known as the Monaco of Austria. Authoritative presentations were complimented by live surgery demonstrations from the mobile Arthrex skills lab.
A welcoming dinner over looking the lake offered a chance to meet the international Faculty. We met Prof Hans Staubli from Berne at dinner along with his fascinating wife Anna Achilios an inspiring artist, and tour guide The following evening a cruise afforded an opportunity to meet the delegate. A healthy change of subject left us wanting to find out more. I was flattered by the number of surgeons who were keen to visit Scotland to learn more about internalBracing.
One of the conveners Philip Scholtte provided some competition in terms of traditional dress sporting his Bavarian leathers. Live music was in part provided by Florian who played guitar after presenting during the day. The program was very innovated and I was delighted to hear the internalBrace referred to by numerous speakers and one or two German speaking publications were flagged up which I had not been aware off- the supportive evidence is building.
Local hosts made us very welcome including Stefan Marlovits who recommended dinner at DO&CO in Vienna for our Silver anniversary and Prof Andreas Janousek used his connections to secure a last minute booking.
