Global Experts Unite for the International Consensus on Internal Brace Applications in Ligament Surgery

The International Brace Study Group (IBISG) was established to bring together leading clinicians and researchers with a shared commitment to advancing the evidence base surrounding Internal Brace augmentation. Over the past several months, experts from across the world, representing both human and veterinary orthopaedics, have collaborated in a rigorous Delphi process to explore the current and emerging applications of Internal Brace techniques across a range of clinical scenarios.

In July, the IBISG faculty will convene in Glasgow for the final stage of the project – the International Consensus on Internal Brace Applications in Ligament Surgery. This meeting will provide an opportunity to review the findings of the Delphi process, discuss areas of agreement and uncertainty, and ratify the final consensus statements.

This international collaboration aims to develop expert-led recommendations on the indications, techniques and applications of Internal Brace augmentation, establish best-practice principles, and identify priorities for future research. By bringing together perspectives from different specialties, countries and clinical settings, the project seeks to promote a more consistent and evidence-informed approach to the use of Internal Brace augmentation in both human and veterinary medicine.

The IBISG is immensely grateful to all faculty members who have generously contributed their time, expertise and insights throughout this process.
