About Iain
Edinburgh skier Iain Innes was the Mackay Clinic's first ever sponsored athlete. Iain had a remarkable record of success, he was overall British champion at U12, U14, U16, U18 and U21 level. In 2016 Iain represented Team GB at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway, finishing 17th in Giant Slalom and 20th in Slalom. In February 2018 aged 19-year-old competed at the Junior World Championship in Davos for the first time, and despite a comparative lack of resources he finished 51st in the downhill (out of 62), 36th (out of 92) in the Super G, 28th (out of 99) in the Alpine Combined, and 31st (out of 129) in the Giant Slalom. His aim was to represent Team GB at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing but in 2019 he decided to pursue other exciting avenues which so far have included training the Chinese snowboarding team and in 2020-21 he started exploring the joys of skiing in Scotland out of season!
