DR. PATRICK A. SMITH

MISSOURI, US

Dr. Patrick A. Smith received his medical training at the University of Michigan followed by a sports medicine fellowship under Jack C. Hughston. He has practiced focusing on sports medicine at the Columbia Orthopaedic Group in Columbia, Missouri for 37 years. He served as Head Team Physician at the University of Missouri for 30 years. He started the Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Missouri and continues as Co-Director. Presently, he is an Adjunct Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Missouri.

His research interests include use of internal bracing for ACL repair and reconstruction. He has published biomechanical, translational animal, and clinical studies regarding the safety and efficacy of suture tape augmentation for ACL surgery. He also is involved in research on the use of PRP for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.

Dr. Smith has been married to his wife Karen for 41 years and has 5 children as well as 5 grandchildren.
